LEVIN : The Levin International for GPL

First used in 1956 for national meetings and an International Meeting in 1958, the circuit was officially 1.0 mile long, although in reality it was a touch shorter.
In 1961 it was extended officially to 1.2 miles, although in reality it was around 1 mile long, and it was used until 1976.
The circuit was tight, twisty and bumpy, Levin being built within a modest small-town horse-racing track. It was shaped like a pair of goggles, giving a straight, a hairpin and two long left-hand curves. Circuits like this always gave a quick little car a chance but runoffs were short and mistakes punished dangerously.
Levin was closed in March 1976 due to a combination of local hostility, a general decline in the sport and the horse racing club wanting to expand their facilities. Another factor in the demise of Levin was the inauguration of the much more up-to-date Manfeild facility only a few miles away.
The track was torn up so there is no possibility of it being resurrected.

Jim Clark - Levin is a little tight & bumpy but it's quite enjoyable
